Six weeks after barbershops and salons were allowed to reopen as New York City entered Phase 2, local hair cutters say business has been so slow they might not recognize their pre-COVID customers.
“I haven’t seen a lot of my regular customers yet, so I don’t know if they are getting their hair cut. They might have braids by now,” says William “Dray” Drayton, a barber at Faded Out Cutz on Cornaga Avenue in Far Rockaway. “Business has slowed down tremendously.”
